About Us

Forty-one years ago, Jack and Mimi Burgess retired to Camden and bought the Lodge at Camden Hills. Their goal was to create a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy the tranquil Maine coast for both themselves and their guests.

Their son Jim Burgess and his wife Jody Payne happily moved from the New York area to run the Lodge. They live in Cushing, Maine at the end of the peninsula off Thomaston and split their time between their home and Camden.

Jim is a horticulturist and property manager who can fix anything. He is always outdoors; fishing, napping in the grass, playing tag with deer, and bird watching. He has been been involved in the Lodge since his parents came here in 1975.

Jody is former curator at the New York Botanical Garden. She came to Tenant's Harbor as an art student around the time the Burgesses moved here and has a painting studio in Cushing.
